This Saturday, July 31st, 2010, from 11am to 3pm, we will be holding a special workshop at the school for currently enrolled students. You must bring $10 to participate. We will provide materials for creating cyanotypes. You must bring your own objects to create the photograms.

We will take a lunch break from noon to 1pm, so bring extra money.

Join us Thursday, July 22nd from 5-6 pm in the Photo Studio for the first meeting of the summer quarter. We’ll be discussing the type of workshops the club will be hosting as well as setting up a meeting schedule for the rest of the quarter.

Come meet the new photography academic director, Mr. William Gatz this Thursday (July 15th) from 5-6 pm in the photo studio. Mr. Gatz will be showing his photography as well as discussing the direction of the photography program.

Fashion, photography and graphic design students are being featured in the AI gallery for 512Style, which is about fashion in Austin.

The opening is this Thursday, June 10, 5-7 pm. Please come and take a look at great student work.

Hey folks! Looks like the photographer that Leigh was talking about at the meeting is coming to speak next Thursday, June 3rd, at the AMOA.

Running the Numbers exhibition artist Chris Jordan talks about the inspiration for and impact of his epic photographs about sustainability. Chris Jordan takes statistics that are too big for the mind to grasp and makes them shockingly beautiful for the eye to behold: 380,000 kilowatt hours of electricity wasted every minute…2 million plastic bottles used every five minutes. By fusing image and information into epic photographs, he asks us to consider our responsibility in American consumption.

This Friday (May 28th) is Jen’s birthday and Austin Center of Photography 6th Icon of Photographer lecture, Abelardo Morell.

The Austin Center for Photography is hosting Abelardo Morell for their Icons of Photography No. 6 lecture series. The event will be a lecture and booking signing May 28 at 7 pm. If you would love to participate in this, you can either buy a ticket or ACP is in need of volunteers. The volunteer roles include usher, greeter, help at the ticket table and book signing. There is a cool photo show, Explore Creativity in Digital Space this Thursday from 5:30-7:30 pm.  It is in the ACES building on UTs campus. Several photographers will be showing their work in the awesome Visualization Lab with the highest resolution tiled display in the world! Tre Ratcliff who came to the school to talk about his super cool HDR photos will be there as will Lawrence McFarland who received a Guggenheim fellowship for his photography this year.

Shudder Budder Meeting is tomorrow to discuss finalizing plans of having a website and club launch party next week on Tuesday May 4th from 4:30-6:30.
